Catholicscope - Life isn't a condition where we will always be happy and get everything we want. Life is a condition in which we will be confronted with happiness and sadness.

If it's just happiness we may call it heaven, and if it's sad we may call it hell. God Himself already knows everything we need to live our lives that are only temporary in this world.

But, He desperately wants us to seek His help and always pray, that He may know that we still accept and consider Him to exist.

In the Bible, we can find many verses that can help us deal with situations and one of them is a Bible verse to strengthen a sad person.

Grieving the loss of our loved ones is very painful, like the death of a father, mother, brother, sister, friend, and our relatives. Here, we will give you a little information about the Bible verses for you who are grieving

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

Psalm 69:30-31 - I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. This will please the Lord more than an ox,more than a bull with its horns and hooves.

4. Be Thanksful in our prayer

Hebrews 12:28-29 - Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire”.

Psalm 30:3-4 - You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit. Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.

5. Be Thankful for the joy

Hebrews 13:14-16 - For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Psalm 30:11-12 - You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

Catholicscope - Of the many prayers that are often prayed by Catholics, there are at least 5 prayers sourced from the Bible or the Holy Bible. The prayers are clearly recorded in the Scriptures.

But this doesn't mean that only these five prayers are sourced from the Bible. There are still other prayer which also comes from the Bible. We chose 5 this prayer because we often hear or most widely recited by Catholics.
But remember, of these five prayers, there are two prayers associated with total submission to God. That is, the two prayers contain elements of submission of Catholics to God.

1. The Lord's Prayer

It's certain that the first prayer that comes from the Bible is the Lord's Prayer. This prayer is even taught by Jesus directly to His disciples, as well as to us.

The Lord's Prayer is touted as the most perfect prayer and is recommended to be prayed by all Catholics. The Biblical basis of the Lord's Prayer is Matthew 6: 9-13 or Luke 11: 2-4.

2. Jonah’s Prayer

Do you remember the story of prophet Jonah? He was a prophet swallowed up by a fish for three days for against God's commands.

The Jonah's prayer is one of God's compassionate requests because we often against his commandments.

The Scripture verse that speaks of this prayer of Jonah is Jonah 2: 2-9. So, don't forget to pray like prophet Jonah, cause sometimes we also against Gods command.

3. Hannah's prayer

Hana is one of the prominent figures in the Old Testament Scriptures. He is the mother of Samuel who spent all his life living in the God's house.

Hannah's perseverance in praying and praising God's great works can be an inspiration to us as Catholics. Hana's praise prayer can be found in the passage 1 Samuel 2: 1-10.

Two Prayers of Submission

In addition to the above mentioned three prayers that have biblical foundations, there are two other prayers sourced from Scripture as well. And, these two prayers are very thick with expressions of submission to God.

4. Mary's Hymn of Praise: Magnificat

 Magnificat or also often known by the praise of Mary is a prayer of praise that describes the surrender of Mary to God. This prayer is very popular among the Legion of Mary.

5. Simeon's Song

Suddenly, the social media crowded with information coming from Rome: Father Paul Budi Kleden SVD, elected head of the Society of the Word of God (SVD) or known as Superior General.

Many people rejoice and not a few are surprised. However, one of his close friends admitted that he was not surprised and said the election of Father Budi was the right thing.

The close friend was Bishop Adrianus Sunarko OFM of Bishop of Pangkalpinang.

Bishop Sunarko and Father Budi had both taken doctoral courses in theology at Albert Ludwid University Freiburg, Germany.

"I take pride in, though not surprised, given the abilities he has," said Bishop Adrianus at the Pangkalpinang diocese's Wisma Complex on Wednesday, July 4.

He also claimed to have heard previous stories from his friends in SVD when met, where they call Pater Budi is a strong candidate. He believes Pater Budi will do his job well.

While in Germany, Bishop Sunarko knew the figure who was born in Waibalun, East Flores as a person who has many talents.

"He is talent, diligent, clever, as well as like to seek new ideas," added the Bishop who ordained 23 september 2017 ago.

When elected as Bishop of Pangkalpinang, Bishop Adrianus OFM admitted to receiving congratulations from Father Budi.

"He sent his congratulations, and I said, 'I can not teach anymore,'" said Bishop Adrianus. Hearing that, Father Paul Budi said, "Bishop is now teaching for all dioceses."

Bishop Adrianus OFM arrived in Germany in 1996, then a year of language learning. He studied with Father Budi from 1997 to 2000.

"We studied the same dogmatic theology, guided by the same professor," he said.

This event of faith becomes the testimony and hope that the best Catholic sons of Indonesia will fly to different parts of the world to proclaim the Gospel.

We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and enlighten Father Budi Kleden so as to lead the SVD according to God's will.

Catholicscope - St Catherine of Siena was born in Sienna City, Italy in 25 March 1347. Catherine was the youngest child. Her parents want their youngest daughter to marry and live happily.

But Catherine does not want to get married. She wants to be a nun. This determination she showed by cutting his hair and making himself unattractive.

Knowing what their daughter did, Catherine's parents were very angry. As punishment, Chaterine had to do heavy domestic work. She never gave up, she still wanted to be a nun. Prayer and meditation never left by Catherine. Eventually his parents allowed Catherine to become a nun.

Catherine entered the third Order of Saint Dominic. Inside the monastery he continued to pray and meditate in addition to her charity and apostolate work. The spiritual life and personality of Catherine made her the elected leader of the abbey.

At that time, the church experienced many problems. Priests and Church leaders do not present themselves well. The fights broke out throughout Italy. At that time, Pope was in Avignon, France.

Catherine gets a vision, Jesus asks her to write a letter to the Pope to return to Rome. She was also asked to write to the bishop, kings and commanders to improve the situation of the Church and the community.

Since entering the third Order of Saint Dominic, Catherine has been fasting ever since. She does not even eat and only receive communion.

She received the stigmata or the wounds of Jesus. Upon his request, the stigamata was invisible to others during his lifetime. After the death, the stigmata was only visible on his body.

Catherine gave all her life to God. She considers herself a tool of God. She gets great charisma to influence many people. She succeeded in making the Pope return to Rome, bringing many sinners back to the Lord's path, and reconciling kings with the Church.

St Catherine of Siena died on April 29, 1380 in Rome at the age of 33 years. It was canonized in 1461 by Pope Pius II.

In 1970, Pope Paul VI appointed her as a Doctor of The Church. Because Catherine served the Church of Christ with courage throughout her lifetime. St Catherine of Siena's feast day is April 29.

She is the patroness against fire, illness, the United States, Italy, miscarriages, people ridiculed for their faith, sexual temptation, and nurses.
