The majority of the population of Bali are Hindus. But in Palasari, Jembrana, the majority of the population is Catholic. And they still hold local cultural customs. Cave of St Mary Palasari

Cave of St Mary Palasari (Gua Maria Palasari) is also known as Palinggih Dewi Kaniaka Maria. Palinggih in Balinese means holy place. While Dewi Kaniaka Maria is a term for Our Lady.

Palinggih Dewi Kaniaka Maria was built in 1962. Originally the Maria Cave in Bali was located next to the Palasari OSF Sister.

In December 1983, Maria's cave was moved to the Monument of Father Simon Bois SVD, the first priest in Palasari. The Cave of St Mary Palasari was inaugurated and blessed on September 15, 2008 by the Vatican Ambassador to Indonesia Mgr Leopoldo Girelli.

A calm and cool atmosphere surrounds Maria Palasari Cave complex. The trees overshadow these Catholic religious tourism in Bali.
