"The needs of today's young people are often ignored. Many people are busy talking about things that are not basic, do not target the needs of the people, "Pidyarto said at a meeting of the Java Regional Diocese Student Pastoral Forum, Monday-Wednesday, 25-27 / 2 at Samadi St. Retreat House, Malang, East Java.
The meeting, which carried the theme "Yes U Can," was also attended by nine priests, and five assistants. Aside from Pidyarto, Father Yohanes Driyanto, Kapelan Pastor Student, appeared as a speaker.
Father Driyanto spoke about the existence of a student Church that is part of the diocese. What the students did, according to Father Driyanto, should not be separated from the role of the Church, both the parish and the rector.
"It is important that the pastoral focus of the students is under the right guidance. Students need a moving spirit, "he said.
In this meeting, the students agreed to return to knitting clear coordination between the Church and students.
The meeting also agreed on a number of fundamental decisions including the role of students as a driver for the life of faith in the campus world.
At present the Indonesian Church is concentrating on the apostolate of young people. The Church believes that the future of the apostolate of the Indonesian Catholic Church is in the hands of young people.
Therefore, they must get physical and spiritual assistance so that they are mentally ready to face the challenges ahead.
Every parish in each diocese is expected to be able to find apostolic models that are suitable and typical for young people so that they feel comfortable in the church environment.
